By Michael Anthony, Health Writer, Whatfinger News

The Primal Podcast put Dr. David Brownstein on today and handed him the microphone he has been using for twenty years. I’ve seen many interviews with him and other doctors who are detested by Big Pharma, but who cure their patients all over America. As you know, I’m not a fan of the Deep State in any way, or Big Pharma. Big Pharma controls almost every medical association, to guarantee their monthly blood money. I call it blood money as we can cure so many, and quickly, of so many ailments, that it is actually disgusting how these supposed doctors are told to give the wrong advice.

On the video –  The title is the whole pitch: he is the iodine doctor, the dose is exact, and the quiet link runs through low thyroid and cancer. Rina Ahluwalia asks. Brownstein answers from a clinic book he says covers more than 8,000 patients. Ninety-seven percent of them, he says, come in iodine-broke. See the video below, especially if you or a loved one suffer from any thyroid issues – Hashimoto, hyperthyroidism, iodine deficiency, and any glandular problems like ovarian, prostate, and thyroid cancer. Article continued below the vid – Text description from the creator of the vid is on the bottom of this article.

I will take him at half, minimum. The other half can argue with the labs. The American Thyroid Association and the NIH fact sheet can argue with the copay. I’m just so sick of any ‘association’ that is almost always more interested in keeping their monthly bonuses of their doctors from Big Pharma, than helping people.

Here is the official number, still printed like it came down on stone. A grown adult needs 150 micrograms a day. Pregnancy bumps that to 220. Nursing, 290. Cross 1,100 micrograms and the tolerable-upper-limit committee clears its throat. The ATA goes further. It tells the public there is no known thyroid benefit to routine doses above the RDA, and it wants you off any iodine or kelp pill past 500 micrograms. High-dose iodine, in their shop, is a short drug. Lugol’s before a Graves operation. Potassium iodide if a reactor pops. Then back to the tablet they can bill.

Brownstein’s number is not in that zip code. Twenty-five milligrams if you are basically well. Fifty if the breasts, ovaries, uterus, prostate, or thyroid are already growing cysts, nodules, or worse. On a bad cancer case in those glands he has gone to 150 for a stretch, then settled at 50. He wants Lugol’s, the old mix of elemental iodine and potassium iodide, not the lonely iodide in a drugstore multi. He wants unrefined salt, because the pump that hauls iodine into the cell is a sodium-iodide symporter and it likes sodium. He wants selenium in the bag, because the enzymes that build and activate thyroid hormone fall over without it. And he wants you to know bromide and fluoride sit on the same chair.  I buy my Lugols at Amazon, you can see below for the exact one I buy.  Plus more info that no one ever tells you on mg to drops. To help you with the mg issues and drops – On this  J.Crow’s 2% bottle, one vertical drop is about 2.5 mg of total iodine plus iodide.

Use this chart below on it as a guide.  Why the hell do companies not tell you this? I invest in many supplements to test for my readers, and so many have their own standards that people just don’t know what the hell they are talking about. If a Doctor says 20 mg is a great dose of Iodine, and tells you to buy Lugols (below) that I buy, but neglects to tell you that each drop is 2.5 mg, I think he might just need a slap in his head (Just joking). But seriously, we are Whatfinger News point to all such ridiculous things, health, politics, entertainment, and that’s why our readers get their rears over to whatfinger.com daily directly. Over 93% now come right to us for a reason, bypassing the censors.

And here is the one I get. It’s cheap and saves you a fortune in so many ways. CLICK HERE or below

That is the maker’s own number, and it matches the drop math Brownstein used in the video. A 2% Lugol’s is 2% elemental iodine and 4% potassium iodide in water. They count a vertical “metric” drop as 1/20 ml (0.05 ml):

    • 1.0 mg elemental iodine
    • 2.0 mg potassium iodide, of which about 1.5 mg is iodide
    • 2.5 mg combined per drop

That is the video. A patient with fibrocystic breasts bad enough that a surgeon had penciled in a double mastectomy. Fifty milligrams. Pain down, tissue softer, thermography score from the scary column to the boring one, surgery canceled. Another case, metastatic thyroid cancer, iodine on board, scans clear, still walking around decades later. Case reports. I know what a case report is. I also know what a surgery date feels like when it has your name on it.

My aunt took the ten drops

Two years ago my aunt was in that lane. Breast trouble. Fatigue that had moved in and paid rent. Removal was on the table as a serious sentence, not a hypothetical. I sent her other YouTube iodine talks, the ones already up before today’s Primal episode. She was desperate enough to try the bottle instead of waiting on another specialist who would measure her TSH, shrug, and book the room.

She used a standard 2% Lugol’s, the J.Crow’s kind I buy. Ten drops a day. J.Crow’s own math puts a vertical drop of the 2% at 2.5 milligrams of iodine plus iodide, so ten drops is 25 milligrams. That is Brownstein’s baseline for a generally healthy adult, and it is what she ran while she was anything but.

Inside a week she said the fatigue had cracked. Under six months the breast issues were gone. The removal talk died. The exhaustion did not come back. One woman. No control group. No journal will print her. I watched it happen in the family, and I will take that over a press note from an association that has spent my lifetime treating a mineral like a controlled substance and a lifetime drug like a personality.  Remember – these associations and their Big Pharma overlords will NEVER do a study that costs hundreds of millions of dollars, in order to make them lose money. Get it? The result of every trial is known before-hand- as the result ALWAYS is to sell you drugs that you do not need or there are far better alternatives found in nature.

Family timeline. Labeled as a report, not a trial.

    The microgram priesthood

Put the doses on one line and the argument gets rude. The RDA is 0.15 milligrams. The ATA supplement scold is 0.5 milligrams. The U.S. upper limit is 1.1 milligrams. Brownstein’s healthy-adult line is 25. His glandular line is 50. My aunt lived at 25. One drop of the 2% bottle is already about seventeen times the RDA. Ten drops is the dose the agencies would call reckless before the dropper hits the glass.

They get there by a habit. Iodine deficiency, in the official story, was solved in 1924 when Morton salted the shaker. Goiter retreated. Cretinism retreated. IQ in the worst counties moved. True, and worth remembering. Then the story froze. Bread lost its iodate conditioner. Bromate took the slot. People ditched iodized salt for pink rocks and Celtic flakes that do not carry iodine. Dairy iodine wandered with the feed. Urinary iodine in the U.S. slid after the 1970s. The agencies noticed, wrote a paragraph, and kept the 150 microgram target nailed to the wall. If you still feel like a wrung-out dish towel, the next offer is usually a prescription, not a dropper.

Brownstein’s Japan card is the one place I will not let him skate. Older iodine books love a figure around 12 milligrams a day from seaweed, as if every salaryman is eating a kelp mattress. The better dietary work, Nagataki and the Zava review, puts typical Japanese intake nearer 1 to 3 milligrams, lumpy, kelp-driven, and still several times the American RDA. Japan’s own upper limit sits at 3 milligrams. So the “they eat 13 milligrams and their breasts are fine” line is the inflated version. The honest version still embarrasses the U.S. target. A country eating one to three milligrams a day did not collapse into a thyroid ward.

The breast papers are the other piece the agencies talk past. Ghent’s Canadian work, and the later randomized trial of molecular iodine, used about 1.5 to 6 milligrams and watched fibrocystic pain and nodularity ease. Side effects ran higher on plain sodium iodide than on molecular iodine. That is not 50 milligrams. It is also not 150 micrograms. It is a milligram-scale effect, in women, on the exact tissue my aunt was scared of losing. The Linus Pauling Institute writes it up and then reminds you the dose sits over the official upper limit, so find a doctor. Fine. Find one who has read the paper.

The Salt I still take is the following… As a good mineral salt is essential to couple with iodine drops

Why I am done deferring to the letterhead

I am not a physician. I run a news site and I read.  I call myself a Information Aggregator, and Citizen Scientist. The pattern on iodine matches the pattern on a dozen other files. The official range is set where a drug still has a job. Cross it and the language turns to danger, autoimmunity, Wolff-Chaikoff, Jod-Basedow, see your endocrinologist. Some of that danger is real. A gland full of nodules can wake up angry on a big iodine load. Hashimoto’s patients are the group the letterhead worries about, and a few thyroid writers on the other side of Brownstein, Wentz and Christianson among them, think extra iodine can stir antibodies. I have read them. I do not think they cancel the aunt, the Ghent data, or a clinic that has been doing this since the Clinton years.

Remember, these folks want to keep making the Mercedes payments. Just like the doctors even now who lie to you as if they are Medical Nazis when they tell patients that their type 2 diabetes cannot be reversed, I tell them to go take a leap off bridge, as Carnivore Doctors have already reversed it in many thousands of people all over America. And that is just by changing their diet. So, as I always say, trust NO ONE. I have a great write up after trying all types of diets, on Carnivore type diets to get you into maximum health – click here.

A Doctor is a human who has their own bias and income situation, and overlords in the boards who force conformity of ignorance to maximize Big Pharma profits. Don’t even listen to even me… research all of this yourself. Never accept any never accept anything for any doctor or ‘expert’ who says ‘the science is settled’. That usually means, their checks are cashed and they want them to keep coming. This article is written in October of 2026. But with tech going as it is, in mere months maybe we know far more than we now know on iodine. Tech changes. So, in time, many, many years from now, this article info will be obsolete. But If I were a Big Pharma Doctor, and my monthly bonus checks relied on me still saying the same damn thing many years from now even after new discoveries are made, I would stay with the same info. I seriously feel sorry for them, but have all respect for the former Big Pharma doctors who got tired of their patients not being helped, due to their lies that they may or may not have known to be lies. Dr Ken Berry is tops in this department, Far more nice to Big Pharma than I am, but he says it all. And he says it in such a way that you can confront your doctor and very possibly be able to help the thousands or hundreds of their patients with the latest info. Your doctor is often ignorant, not out of malice or even in any evil way knowing they are hurting patients. They simply, in many cases, do not know. Never forget, when it comes to health, doctors are some of the most ignorant people out there. Even in medical school – right now in 2026 – 100% of doctors in the U.S. today take one mere class on nutrition. Which means YOU can know more than your doctor in less than a week of studying podcasts and getting all of the opinions of various sides. Whatfinger is perfection this respect as we do this for all topics.

I do think the ATA and the NIH are wrong on the dose, and wrong in the direction they are usually wrong. The safe answer is the small answer. The small answer leaves the symptom in place. The symptom gets a brand name. The brand name gets a prior authorization. Everybody downstream of the patient gets paid. The patient gets a scar or a copay.

Agency script against the Oct 3 video.

Brownstein is at least 50 percent right. Soils are tired. Oceans are a lousy guarantee. The shaker you switched to for the minerals does not contain the one mineral the thyroid is built from. Brominated flour and brominated drinks and flame retardants are not a fairy tale. Fibrocystic tissue has a published iodine signal the RDA never touches. And a woman in my family, on ten drops of 2% Lugol’s, got her year back.

If you run his protocol, run it like a grown-up. Selenium on board before you hero-dose. Salt that still tastes like salt, not a sodium-restricted hospital tray. A vertical drop, not a blob, if you are counting milligrams off the J.Crow’s card. Labs if you already have a diagnosis, because a gland on fire can do strange things when the mineral shows up late. Talk to a clinician who will actually read the paper. I watched the surgery conversation end.

The agencies can keep 150 micrograms. I will keep the dropper. Your life is more important than ‘following orders’ of your doctor who, if a Big Pharma doctor, is more interested in money than helping his/her patients.
