Horrified fans watching a routine beauty livestream suddenly witnessed pure evil unfold in real time. Valeria Márquez, a 23-year-old Mexican beauty influencer and salon owner, was gunned down in cold blood while broadcasting from her shop in Zapopan, Jalisco. The hitman walked in dressed like a delivery driver, confirmed her identity, and opened fire — one shot to the chest, two to the head. She dropped dead on camera as her followers watched in real time.

This was no random street crime. Mexican authorities now say it was a calculated hit ordered by a senior Cartel Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG) boss because his son got dumped.
Ramón Ángel Álvarez Ayala, known as “El R1,” stands accused of ordering the murder after his son, Francisco Álvarez, asked Daddy to take care of the problem. Francisco and Valeria had an on-and-off relationship. When she ended it and the threats started flying, the cartel heir allegedly went to his father for a solution. Most fathers tell their sons to move on. Cartel fathers call in the sicarios.
El R1 was arrested in late July 2026 during a special forces operation. He is also linked to the murder of a former mayor. The son and the actual shooter remain free.
Days after the killing, a bouquet of red roses with a note reading simply “Sorry” appeared outside the salon. The animals even left a calling card.

This is the reality of cartel “justice.” A young woman runs a beauty salon, builds a following talking makeup and self-care, ends a relationship, and ends up executed live for the world to see. These people do not operate under any code of honor. They treat human life like a disposable business expense.
CJNG is not some street gang. The U.S. Treasury has labeled them a terrorist organization involved in drug trafficking, fuel theft, smuggling, and violence that has turned parts of Mexico into a war zone. They traffic fentanyl that is killing Americans by the tens of thousands. They run parallel governments in the regions they control. And when a woman rejects one of their princes, they respond with a public execution.
This is what open-border policies and weak leadership invited north of the Rio Grande for years. Cartels grew richer, more arrogant, and more brutal while Washington looked the other way or treated the border as a humanitarian photo op. The same networks that stage hits on livestream in Jalisco move product and people into American cities every single day.
President Trump has taken a different approach — treating these groups as the transnational terrorist threat they are and building coalitions to dismantle them. That is the only language these animals understand. Soft power, endless “root causes” lectures, and catch-and-release do nothing but embolden them.
Valeria Márquez should be alive, running her salon and talking to her fans about beauty products. Instead she was murdered on camera because she had the nerve to walk away from a cartel family.
