Weston McKennie defended U.S. teammate Folarin Balogun, after his controversial red card during Team USA’s World Cup win led to an automatic suspension on July 1. “I think it was questionable,” McKennie told Sports Illustrated July 2. “There have been many other plays like that throughout the tournament on other players where a card wasn’t given at all.” He added, “It’s disappointing and I don’t know the protocol of how they come to the conclusion. From what my teammates have said, I don’t think it’s a red card. Maybe yellow, but unintentional.” Full Story: https://www.eonline.com/news/1433584/weston-mckennie-calls-folarin-baloguns-world-cup-red-card-suspension-bogus
