Matt Walsh does not hedge. The day after Democrats took the House and Senate, he said the Democrat Party has been fully captured by communists who want you dead and seek to destroy Western civilization itself.
Asked where the party will be in ten years, Walsh answered plain: “Well, they’re going full communist, and that’s already happening. I mean, that’s the DSA, and I think that they’re fully embracing that.” He added that a decade ago Democrats would at least pretend to dispute the socialist label. They no longer bother.
Matt Walsh predicts the Democratic Party is “going full communist” and says Democrats no longer even pretend to deny they’re socialists.
Asked where Democrats will be in 10 years, Walsh didn’t sugarcoat it.
HOST: “Matt, where do you see the Democratic Party in 10 years?”
WALSH: “Well, they’re going full communist, and that’s already happening. I mean, that’s the DSA, and I think that they’re fully embracing that.
“I think that maybe 10 or 15 years ago, if we accused the Democrats of being socialists, they would at least pretend to dispute the point, but now they’re obviously not disputing it.
“And so it’s a full-on socialist, anti-West, anti-American movement, and that’s what it is now. It’ll be, I suppose, even more so in 10 years.”

The evidence is not subtle. Zohran Mamdani was sworn in as New York City mayor on January 1, 2026, on a Quran. He told the crowd he was elected as a democratic socialist and would govern as one. Then he delivered the line that removed the last fig leaf: “We will replace the frigidity of rugged individualism with the warmth of collectivism.”
That is the language of the movement now running the party. The Democratic Socialists of America adopted “Workers Deserve More” as its governing program in 2026. It calls for public ownership of the largest corporations and essential industries—food, education, energy, medicine, and transportation. It demands the abolition of the Senate, the replacement of the presidency and Supreme Court with bodies chosen by and subordinate to Congress, and steps toward fully abolishing the police and prison system. DSA co-chair Megan Romer confirmed the list when asked: abolish the Senate, yes; replace the presidency and courts, yes; abolish ICE and borders as a long-term plan, yes.

Gallup’s September 2026 survey put socialism at 43 percent positive among all Americans, the highest since the firm began tracking in 2010. Among Democrats the number is 65 percent positive on socialism and only 35 percent positive on capitalism. A CNN poll found roughly one-third of Democrats and Democratic-leaning adults now identify as democratic socialists.

The organizational push is explicit. DSA chapters from Los Angeles to Wichita have passed resolutions urging Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to run for president in 2028. Mamdani’s campaign strategist told a Dutch outlet the goal is to take over the Democratic Party, and the vehicle is an AOC presidential campaign. DSA’s national leadership has already set up a process that could produce an endorsement early in 2027.
Joe Manchin, now an independent, warned that the party moved from liberal to progressive to DSA. One hundred ninety-two House Democrats voted against a resolution condemning socialism in all its forms. The platform that binds the DSA’s endorsed candidates is not a suggestion. It is a commitment to draft a new constitution and create a democratic socialist republic.
History supplies the outcome. The Bolsheviks did not seize Russia because a majority of Russians voted for them. They seized the institutions, the cities, and the language while most people stayed passive. Walsh has drawn the parallel repeatedly: socialists do not need popular majorities if they control the state and the party machinery. New York is already under that model. The midterm results handed them both chambers of Congress.

The destination is not a European welfare state. The destination is the system that killed more than 100 million people in the twentieth century and that the DSA’s own documents describe as the end of private ownership of the means of production. Western civilization is the target because it is the remaining barrier—individual rights, private property, free speech, and the Constitution that DSA proposes to scrap.
Whatfinger News has tracked the shift for years. The election maps and polls at dedicatedissues.com/election show the same numbers. The question is no longer whether the Democrat Party is moving left. Walsh’s point is that the move is finished, the pretense is gone, and the stated goal is the destruction of the system that produced the United States.
