Two explosions struck central Damascus during French President Emmanuel Macron’s visit to Syria, injuring 18 people, including four police officers, according to Syria’s Interior Ministry. Officials said the blasts occurred outside the security perimeter of Macron’s residence and did not pose a direct threat to the French president or his visit, which continued as planned. The explosions occurred near the Ministry of Tourism building, close to the Four Seasons Hotel, shortly before Macron met with Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa.
