Eddie Huang, best-selling author of “Fresh Off The Boat,” was at an event advocating against censorship last week when he learned his own book had been banned in Texas alongside more than 8,000 others. Nearly 12,000 books have been banned across the U.S. over the past year. “I think people should be trusted to have their own logic and reasoning, and I think books are a resource to our society. We should be reading them. We should be arguing about them. But to ban them and not even allow a conversation to begin on something as basic as ‘Dim Sum For Everyone,’ or ‘Fresh Off The Boat,’ is just wild.”
