    Feel 70 Percent Better From Grapes? The Vinia Blood-Flow Capsule I Take – Vinia

    Dave Asprey titled a recent episode of The Human Upgrade “Feel 70 Percent Better… With Grapes?” He sat down with Ilan Sobel, CEO of BioHarvest Sciences, the company that makes Vinia. I have been taking one capsule a day for a while. It is red grape cell powder, not wine and not the usual knotweed resveratrol.     The 70 percent figure comes from a 2015 double-blind, placebo-controlled trial by Vaisman and Niv published in the International Journal of Food Sciences and Nutrition. Fifty adults with prehypertension or mild hypertension took 200 mg, 400 mg of red grape cell powder, or placebo for 12 weeks. Flow-mediated dilatation improved overall (p=0.013). In the 400 mg group every participant showed a relative FMD improvement greater than 70 percent. Lipid peroxidation dropped in the combined treatment groups. Diastolic blood pressure fell in the 200 mg group compared with placebo. No adverse effects were reported.

    Vinia’s active form is piceid resveratrol, the version that appears naturally in grape skins and is bound to a sugar molecule. That structure makes it roughly 25 times more water-soluble than plain trans-resveratrol. Company testing puts solubility around 82 percent, so most of the 6 mg dose in a 400 mg capsule can dissolve and absorb. Plasma levels rise within about 20 minutes, show a second peak near five hours, and remain detectable for roughly 12 hours. Standard resveratrol usually peaks once and clears faster.

    The mechanism they describe is dual action at the endothelium: nitric oxide rises and endothelin-1 falls. Nitric oxide relaxes vessel walls. Endothelin-1 tightens them and increases with age. Better balance supports wider vessels and more delivery of oxygen and nutrients. In-vitro work has shown large shifts in both markers. One capsule also supplies the rest of the grape polyphenol matrix—catechins, quercetin, anthocyanins, and tannins—in their original form. The company states it equals the piceid content of about a thousand grapes or a standard bottle of red wine, with zero alcohol, negligible sugar, and almost no calories.

    They produce it by growing grape cells in bioreactors under their Botanical Synthesis process rather than farming full plants. The approach avoids pesticides and solvents, uses far less land, and has been scaled after years of development and substantial R&D investment. BioHarvest reports more than 85,000 active users in the United States and Israel and category leadership in resveratrol polyphenol supplements. Athletes and some functional-medicine physicians have adopted it for circulation and energy.

    Anecdotes on forums and in reviews mention steadier afternoon energy, clearer thinking, improved recovery, and better circulation in the extremities. Some people with visible venous changes have noted gradual improvement in skin color and swelling. Results vary. The trial window was 90 days of consistent use. I’m on month 7 or 8. As with any supplement, cycle off after you do the full 3 months. Take a day off every week. Then a few, just to always give your body other factors to deal with, and there is always that X factor. The truth is – we humans don’t even know .000000000001% of how our bodies work. Seriously – don’t listen to ANYONE, myself included, when it comes to YOUR health. Everyone has a different body, a totally different microbiome (even identical twins) which means all food and supplements taken, affect you slightly differently than everyone else. This can be a good thing or a bad thing. Just telling you the truth. We can only go by the latest info and what affects 90-95% of people or more. From there you experiment on your own.

    Back to Vinia – These are structure/function claims for a dietary supplement. The FDA has not evaluated them. Not that I’m a fan of anything the corrupt FDA has done in the last few decades. They have been and still seem to be tools of Big Pharma, so always do extra research into anything they say. I have found them to be 100% wrong at least 70% of time, on all health topics. Vinia is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent disease. If you take blood-pressure medication or have vascular conditions, check with your physician before adding it.

    The old French Paradox observation was that moderate wine drinkers appeared protected despite rich diets. Vinia is one attempt to isolate the useful polyphenol matrix of the grape without the alcohol load. I take the morning capsule, stay consistent, and treat it as one piece of blood-flow support rather than a miracle. The published FMD data and the solubility difference from ordinary resveratrol are the parts that made it worth trying for me.
