Southern China was hit by heavy rain and flooding as Typhoon Maysak moved through the region before weakening into a tropical storm. State broadcaster CCTV showed flooding in Fangchenggang near the Vietnam border, where residents waded through waist-deep water while emergency crews evacuated people by boat. Meteorological authorities urged residents to remain alert for flash floods, landslides, and mudslides.
