Russian President Vladimir Putin greeted Iran’s foreign minister to Moscow on Monday with a warm smile as he hailed their “strategic partnership” and vowed to remain a strong ally of Tehran. An assassination attempt during the annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner has sprung a chorus of criticism over the security at the venue – which even the alleged gunman mocked in a manifesto he sent to his family before he tried to crash through security. The gunman, Cole Tomas Allen, was able to sneak a shotgun, a handgun, and multiple knives into the building where President Trump, most of his cabinet, and many top members of Congress were mingling with journalists. Cole Allen traveled for three days before arriving in Washington, DC, Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche said Monday. Allen, 31, left Los Angeles for Chicago on April 21, and then on from there to DC, Blanche told reporters at a news conference at DOJ headquarters.
