The rest of the roster is worse.
Denver City Councilwoman Shontel Lewis wants to be mayor. She is the Democratic Socialists of America’s pick. She also used to work at the state food-stamp office. In 2008 she treated other people’s EBT accounts like an ATM. These Democrats are no longer shy in their hate for America, and the taxpayers. They are open Communists looking to destroy our great nation, and the media is doing all they can to hide these maniacs. This means they want a Marxist take-over, as these animals continue to dominate the Democrat Party across America.
Court records and a police affidavit, first laid out by the Denver Post and the Colorado Sun, say Lewis hunted inactive benefit accounts, reissued cards that did not belong to her, and handed the money to her roommate and herself. Investigators tied her to at least five to seven accounts over five months. She first denied it. Then she admitted it. She pleaded to misdemeanor theft after felony counts were parked and later dismissed. Eighteen months of probation. More than $6,000 in restitution. A Republican would have been given 10 years and millions in fines. But this is yet another example of how the Democrats have constructed their fraud machines all over America.
While we were living our lives, they dominated schools, the courts, media and the law. Now, with the election in November looming, their Marxist takeover is nearly complete. Kyle Clark of Next 9NEWS put the obvious question to her this month. A conviction involving public money. Is that disqualifying for mayor?
Lewis did not flinch.
“I actually think that experience is what actually qualifies me,” she said. Young mom. Grief. “Something really silly.” She paid restitution. She “navigated all the ills of poverty.” And now she wants the keys to a city of three-quarters of a million people. Can you believe it? Democrats look upon their fraud as experience now.
Colorado’s constitution bars people convicted of embezzling public moneys from holding an office of trust. Lewis lawyered past that once already and sat on the Regional Transportation District board from 2019 to 2022. Voters later put her on the City Council. The DSA put her on the mayoral ticket. The line is the tell. Theft of taxpayer benefits is no longer a stain. It is a talking point.
Plenty of Americans have buried a spouse, raised a kid broke, and still clocked in without looting the accounts of people who actually qualified for help. Lewis skipped that part.
The pattern is the product
Watch the script. Steal public money. Blame trauma. Plead it down. Run for something bigger. Sell the rap sheet as compassion. Donald Trump spent a decade saying the swamp treats your wallet like a snack bar. These people keep proving him right, then ask for a promotion.
Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick, Democrat of Florida, was indicted in November 2025 on charges she and her brother kept a $5 million FEMA overpayment that landed in their family health-care company’s account after a clerical error on a COVID vaccine-staffing contract. Prosecutors say they moved the money through accounts, steered a chunk into her 2021 congressional campaign, ran straw donors, and even bought a 3.14-carat yellow diamond ring. The Miami Herald put the campaign slice at about $1.14 million. If convicted on the full slate she faces decades. She has pleaded not guilty. The House Ethics Committee later found her in violation on 25 of 27 counts. Florida’s 20th District still had a sitting Democrat charged with treating disaster money like seed capital.
Boston City Councilor Tania Fernandes Anderson, a progressive Democrat and the first Muslim elected to that body, pleaded guilty in May 2025 to wire fraud and theft from a federally funded program. The scheme was almost comic if it were not your money. She padded a relative on staff with a $13,000 bonus on the condition $7,000 came back to her. The handoff, prosecutors told the court, happened in a City Hall bathroom. Cash in the pocket. She got a month in prison, $13,000 in restitution, and three years of probation. The judge, an Obama appointee, called it a breach of public trust. Correct.
Then there is Minnesota, where the “kids’ lunch” money became a fleet of luxury cars.
Feeding Our Future, a nonprofit sponsor in the federal child-nutrition program, ballooned from about $3.4 million in 2019 to nearly $200 million in 2021. Federal prosecutors say the network fraudulently claimed more than $240 million and pretended to serve 91 million meals that were not served. The cash bought vehicles, houses here and overseas, and plane tickets. Ringleader Aimee Bock drew 500 months — more than 41 years — in May 2026. Dozens of co-defendants have been convicted. The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Minnesota has counted 65-plus convictions in the overlapping cases. Gov. Tim Walz, a Democrat who spent years talking about “Minnesota nice,” dropped his third-term bid after the scandal ate the state’s brand and gave President Trump a megaphone. Auditors had flagged the program. The machine kept cutting checks.
That is the ecosystem Lewis wants to join at the top of Denver. DSA on the flyer. A theft file in the drawer. A speech about poverty that somehow never includes the people whose EBT cards she cloned.
Low quality is the feature
The socialist lane likes to talk like a morality play. Billionaires bad. Workers good. The state as church. Look at the candidates they keep sending.
India Walton, the DSA darling who won Buffalo’s 2021 Democratic mayoral primary, had a food-stamp overpayment case and unpaid state taxes in her past. She called the challenges a “remarkable increase in my capacity for compassion.” Same hymnal as Lewis. Smaller dollar figure. Same shrug.
Nevada Democrats, in their Bernie-era civil war, elevated Judith Whitmer to state party chair. Florida records from the 1990s show she pleaded no contest to grand theft over fraudulent checks from an employer. A judge withheld formal adjudication and put her on probation. She was later found to have violated that probation. When the story broke in 2023, her line was that poverty should not disqualify anyone. The party kept her.
You can stack more files without leaving the last few years. A Massachusetts jury in 2026 convicted a woman who lived for two decades on a stolen identity and drained more than $400,000 in Section 8, Social Security disability, and SNAP while also voting in 2024. That case is immigration and benefits fraud in one folder, and it ran in a deep-blue state that treats IDs like a suggestion. An Ohio county welfare director, Jean Demosky, was charged in 2026 with theft in office after prosecutors said she used county staff and buildings to run a shill nonprofit that steered goods to people who did not qualify, including a family member.
Different cities. Same muscle memory. Public money is a pool. The rules are for other people. If you get caught, you call it context.
Trump’s coalition keeps making the opposite bet. Work. Borders. Prosecutors who actually prosecute. A government that does not treat your paycheck as a communal fridge. Lewis looked into a camera and said the fridge raid is what makes her ready. Believe her. Then vote like you heard it.
Denver still has a chance to keep the mayor’s office from becoming a support group for people who already helped themselves. November is all telling folks. If the Democrat’s steal the House and Senate, dark days are ahead just next year. It would probably be a great bet to short SpaceX and the whole stock market (no this is not actual advice, we are not financial folks). Just saying, they plan on arresting Elon, Trump and many others, and after they nationalize SpaceX, China is set to rule the world. All of this, if Trump does not do a National Emergency to stop voter fraud before November.
