Donald Trump has insisted the Strait of Hormuz is open after Iran said it was closed following an exchange of strikes between the two countries.
The US said Tehran had attacked a ship in the strait, responding with a series of strikes.
Iran retaliated, launching strikes on Jordan, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar, Kuwait, Oman and Bahrain.
