Patrick Clancy has given his first televised interview since his former wife Lindsay’s murder trial ended in a mistrial, revealing devastating details about the deaths of their children and the grief that followed. Patrick told 60 Minutes that eight-month-old Callan survived for four days after being found strangled and ultimately died in his father’s arms. Patrick said he held out hope that Callan might live, lay beside him in the hospital and apologized to him. He also described losing his sense of purpose, experiencing suicidal thoughts and suffering a severe panic attack while testifying at Lindsay’s trial. Patrick said Lindsay has never asked him for forgiveness, although he chose to forgive her because he believes mental illness caused her actions and feared anger would consume him. He continues to reject online allegations involving himself and his new wife, calling them harmful to his children’s legacy. Lindsay admitted killing Cora, Dawson and Callan, but her defense argued that postpartum psychosis made her not criminally responsible. Eleven jurors reportedly favored that verdict while one disagreed, resulting in the mistrial. Prosecutors have not announced whether she will be retried.
