President Donald Trump has approved the execution of convicted Fort Hood mass shooter Nidal Hasan by Army firing squad. Hasan was sentenced to death for murdering 13 people and wounding more than 30 others during the 2009 attack, after telling jurors that he was the shooter and describing himself as a soldier who had switched sides.
The Army has scheduled the execution for December 3 at Fort Hood. If carried out, it would be the first U.S. military execution since 1961 and an extraordinary end to a case that has remained unresolved for more than 17 years. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth recommended the execution, Trump approved the death sentence and the military is now preparing to carry it out.

Trump and Hegseth Stand Firm on Public Execution of Fort Hood Killer While Leftist Media and Platforms Push Back
Nidal Hasan is set to die by firing squad on December 3 at Fort Hood, Texas. The former Army major killed 13 people and wounded more than 30 others in a 2009 attack on the base. He shouted “Allahu Akbar” as he opened fire on soldiers waiting for medical checks. A military court sentenced him to death in 2013. President Trump approved the firing squad method this week on the recommendation of Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. Pentagon officials confirmed the execution will be livestreamed.
This would be the first U.S. military execution in about 65 years and the first public one in the country in roughly 90 years. Hegseth wants it carried out at the same base, on a Thursday, at 1 p.m.—the same time Hasan carried out the attack—and by soldiers with rifles.
Hegseth laid out the plan in an interview with Jack Posobiec on Real America’s Voice. “He’s gonna get a firing squad of soldiers, as it should be,” he said. “We’ll make sure that people are able to watch it, that it’s public, because people need to understand that there’s serious consequences for these types of things.” He called the choice a “no-brainer” and noted that Obama’s administration had labeled the attack workplace violence. When asked if Hasan had made any final requests or reached out to the White House, Hegseth answered, “Don’t care. We’ll see him on December 3rd.” He also said he liked the World War II mindset of standing your ground when the enemy attacks.
President Trump on Friday said he “absolutely” authorized the Pentagon’s plan to livestream the Fort Hood shooter’s execution.

Trump backed the plan publicly. He called Hasan a “maniac” who “deserves it” and said “Death penalty through firing squad.” When reporters asked Friday if he had personally approved the livestream, Trump replied, “Did I approve? Absolutely.”
Left-leaning outlets and some Democrats quickly condemned the idea of making the execution public. Senator Chris Murphy called it “disgusting” and compared it to ISIS executions. Others described it as medieval, a grotesque spectacle, or something that belongs in dictatorships like Iran or Afghanistan. Senator Thom Tillis, a Republican, also opposed livestreaming it, writing that public executions are what oppressive regimes do. Critics focused on the broadcast itself rather than the 13 deaths or the years of delay in carrying out the sentence.
Streaming platforms are staying quiet or pointing to their rules against graphic content. TikTok’s U.S. spokesperson referenced the site’s ban on “shocking and graphic content,” including “the moment of someone’s death.” Kick said a livestream of the execution would break its guidelines. YouTube, Meta, and Twitch have policies that restrict violent death footage, firearm handling in livestreams, and capital-punishment streams, but none has confirmed whether a government account would get an exception. The Verge and others reported that several major platforms declined to say yes or no when asked.
The core facts remain straightforward. Hasan was convicted of a deliberate mass shooting of American service members. Trump signed off on the method and the livestream. Hegseth stated the public nature is meant to show that such attacks carry real consequences. Platforms and much of the left-leaning coverage are treating the planned broadcast as the main problem. Families of the dead and wounded have waited more than 17 years for the sentence to be carried out. The December 3 date at Fort Hood is the one now on the calendar.
