New poll on Democrats’ view of Socialism vs. Capitalism: It’s officially the Democratic Socialist Party.
It’s Official: The Democratic Party Has Become the Democratic Socialists of America
Libs of TikTok dropped the truth bomb that every red-blooded American already felt in their gut. A fresh CBS News/YouGov poll (August 12-14, 2026) shows Democrats now view socialism far more favorably than capitalism:
- Socialism: 58% positive, 18% negative
- Capitalism: 32% positive, 50% negative
That’s not a fringe preference. That’s the rank-and-file of the Democratic Party. The “Democratic Socialist Party” label isn’t hyperbole anymore—it’s the operating reality.

The broader American public still prefers free markets (capitalism net positive, socialism net negative). But inside the blue bubble—especially among college-educated and younger Democrats—the socialist fever is dominant. Half the party even views the specific “democratic socialist” label positively. The minds of Democrats are being ruled by the DSA playbook.
The DSA’s Explosive Growth
The Democratic Socialists of America didn’t just survive Trump’s 2024 victory and the subsequent political realignment. They thrived on it. Membership cratered during the Biden years, then rocketed after November 2024 and the rise of New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani.
From a sleepy ~6,000 members before Bernie Sanders’ 2016 run, DSA ballooned, peaked near 79,000 around 2021, dipped back near 51,000 by October 2024, then more than doubled. By mid-2026 it claimed well over 120,000 dues-paying members—surpassing the old Socialist Party of America’s 1912 high-water mark and declaring itself the largest socialist organization in U.S. history. New York City DSA alone exploded past 15,000 members.

This isn’t organic enthusiasm for better governance. It’s organized cadre-building inside the Democratic Party’s primary system. DSA chapters now exist in all 50 states. They run disciplined door-knocking machines, train volunteers by the tens of thousands, and treat Democratic primaries as their private hunting grounds.
Candidates in Power and on the Ballot
Over 250 DSA members or endorsees currently hold elected office across roughly 40 states—90% of them elected after 2019. That is a quiet institutional capture of local and state government in deep-blue areas.
In the 2026 cycle the results have been even more aggressive:
- Melat Kiros (Colorado’s 1st) unseated 15-term incumbent Diana DeGette.
- Darializa Avila Chevalier (New York’s 13th) defeated incumbent Adriano Espaillat.
- Claire Valdez took an open New York seat.
- Chris Rabb won the Pennsylvania 3rd primary.
- Zohran Mamdani sits in Gracie Mansion as New York City mayor.
- Janeese Lewis George won the Democratic primary for D.C. mayor.
- Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Rashida Tlaib remain the core of the House socialist presence, with more on the way.
DSA-backed candidates have already won dozens of primaries this cycle. The organization has fielded roughly two dozen House candidates and is eyeing more state and local seats. The goal is clear: double the socialist presence in Congress and lock in permanent left-wing control of the Democratic nominating process.

They Rule the Minds of the Party
The polling is the final confirmation. When a majority of Democrats prefer socialism to the system that built the most prosperous nation in history, the ideological war inside the party is over. Centrists and “moderates” still exist on paper, but the energy, the volunteers, the primary voters in safe seats, and the institutional muscle belong to the DSA and its orbit.
College-educated Democrats are the most enthusiastic. Younger Democrats follow closely. The same voters who delivered Mamdani, Kiros, and the New York primary sweeps are the ones driving the numbers. One earlier poll even found roughly one-third of Democrats willing to identify as democratic socialists.
This is not “progressivism.” It is a self-described socialist organization embedding itself inside a major American political party, winning power through low-turnout primaries, and shifting the Overton window so far left that capitalism itself has become the minority position among Democrats.
America still prefers free markets. The Democratic Party no longer does. The Socialist Democrats of America now hold the keys to the party’s future—and they are not handing them back. It is now up to President Trump to put in motion the needed steps to guarantee America stay free and without a real Marxist revolution. He must end Democrat voter fraud before November, or all bets are off as the Democrats are forecasted by Whatfinger (and we are almost never wrong) to steal Congress and The Senate and begin a new dark time for this nation and the world.
Whatfinger News will keep the scoreboard updated. The takeover is no longer theoretical. The numbers are in.
