An Israeli air strike targeted a residential building in Deir al Balah, central Gaza on May 24, triggering a large fire and causing extensive destruction. Residents had evacuated the building after Israeli forces issued a forced evacuation warning shortly before the strike.
According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, at least 883 people have been killed and 2,648 injured in Israeli attacks since the ceasefire was announced. The truce was intended to halt Israeli attacks that has killed more than 72,000 Palestinians since October 2023.
