Christa Pike was strapped to a table in the execution chamber for more than an hour Wednesday night as medical staff jabbed her with at least seven needles — one of which was bent when it came out of her body, her attorney Randy Spivey said just now in a press conference.
The botched injection — along with Pike’s years of solitary confinement and abuse in jail — made her suffering "greater than any other person in the history of the American death penalty," Spivey, an attorney with the Tennessee Office of the Post Conviction, claimed, arguing that an "independent review does not go far enough.”
