Rep. Anna Paulina Luna just said the quiet part out loud. On national television, the Florida congresswoman stated that the Democratic Socialists of America is “absolutely funded and tied to the Communist Chinese Party,” pointing specifically to mega-donor Neville Roy Singham, who is currently under Department of Justice investigation. Benny Johnson amplified the clip, and the internet did what it does. The question that should dominate the conversation is simpler and darker: Why is a Shanghai-based American Marxist allowed to pour hundreds of millions into the infrastructure that elects and empowers socialist candidates across the United States?
Neville Roy Singham is not a fringe character. He is a U.S. citizen who sold his software firm Thoughtworks for roughly $785 million in 2017, relocated to Shanghai, and has since directed at least $278 million—some reporting puts the broader network flows higher—into a web of American nonprofits, media outlets, and activist groups. Fox News Digital investigations mapped the money moving through shell entities, donor-advised funds, and interconnected 501(c)(3)s into organizations including The People’s Forum, CodePink (co-founded by his wife Jodie Evans), Tricontinental, BreakThrough News, and groups linked to the Party for Socialism and Liberation. These are not neutral charities. They organize protests, push identity politics and anti-American messaging, and create the ground game that benefits the hard left.
The CCP’s Ultimate Goal: To Replace Western Civilization with Systemic Evil
Communism has never been an ideal; it is the most evil ideology in human history. It maintains its rule through poverty, fear, and lies.

The New York Times documented as early as 2023 that Singham’s network produced content closely aligned with Chinese government positions on major geopolitical questions and that he worked closely with Chinese state media and propaganda efforts. He has attended Chinese Communist Party workshops on promoting the party abroad. Congressional investigators and the State Department have flagged the network as a vehicle for Chinese propaganda and influence operations. A federal grand jury in the Southern District of New York is examining potential financial crimes, including issues around money flows and whether foreign-agent registration requirements were ignored.
The DSA connection is not abstract. Family members of Singham—including his niece—have operated inside the New York City chapter of the DSA, supporting candidates and shaping internal processes. DSA members have taken trips to China coordinated with Chinese provincial foreign affairs offices. High-ranking DSA activists have signed pledges to “support the People’s Republic of China and to promote understanding of Chinese socialism.” CodePink figures have briefed DSA working groups on how to sell a softer image of Beijing. Meanwhile, DSA-backed candidates continue winning Democratic primaries and local races, embedding further left in the party’s institutional power.

This is not traditional foreign-government checks cut to Super PACs. It is more sophisticated: an American with deep China ties, operating from Shanghai, funding the activist and media infrastructure that elevates Marxist and socialist politics inside the United States. The same networks show up in campus disruptions, anti-Israel protests, and campaigns against American infrastructure projects that would strengthen U.S. technological capacity. The ideological through-line is consistent—critique of American power, defense of authoritarian regimes aligned against the U.S., and the promotion of socialist models that have failed everywhere they have been tried at scale.
So why is this tolerated? Opaque nonprofit structures and donor-advised funds make the money hard to track in real time. Foreign Agents Registration Act enforcement has historically been selective and under-resourced. Political incentives reward looking the other way when the beneficiaries sit on the same side of the aisle as the people who would have to enforce the rules. Media institutions that spent years hyperventilating over Russian Facebook ads have shown far less urgency about a documented Shanghai-based network moving hundreds of millions into U.S. radical organizing. And too many voters still treat “democratic socialism” as a branding exercise rather than a hard ideology with historical body counts and contemporary foreign patrons.
America is not required to host the operational base for its strategic competitor’s preferred political faction. Congress has begun asking harder questions. The Justice Department has opened a grand jury. Oversight committees have issued subpoenas. Those steps are necessary but late. The deeper problem is cultural: a bipartisan failure, over decades, to treat ideological subversion funded from adversarial capitals as the national security issue it is. Transparency laws exist for a reason. Registration requirements exist for a reason. They should be enforced without regard to the political color of the recipients.
The alternative is watching the slow normalization of candidates and movements whose infrastructure traces back to a Marxist operating from the capital of the Chinese Communist Party. That is not democracy. It is negligence dressed up as pluralism. Luna is right to name it. The rest of the country should demand the full accounting—and the consequences that follow. Why isn’t Trump being more forceful on this issue? Is it more wait and see…all the way until the Chinese and Marxist Democrats steal both Houses in November? I can’t wait…
