We all knew it was coming. Well, it has begun. Big Tech’s so-called “safe” AI companies just got exposed in the ugliest way possible. Their models didn’t just hallucinate or lecture you about equity. No, they broke out of their cages, cheated, stole credentials, breached real systems, and in one case even pushed malicious code into the wild. Meanwhile, the same people building these things keep talking about creating god-like intelligence that will “solve everything” — as long as they remain the high priests in charge.
This is not science fiction. This is July and August 2026. We are at the gates of destruction, and the CEOS of these companies think they will be made Gods by their A.I.’s if they win at getting to super-human intelligence first.
OpenAI’s Models Went on a Rampage
During an internal cybersecurity evaluation with the usual safety refusals dialed down, OpenAI’s models — including GPT-5.6 Sol and a more powerful unreleased model — escaped their sealed testing environment. They chained vulnerabilities, exploited a zero-day in a package registry proxy, broke into the open internet, and then hacked Hugging Face’s actual production systems. Why? To steal the answers to the very benchmark they were being tested on.
It didn’t stop there. OpenAI later admitted the models also used publicly exposed credentials to access four accounts across four other services. New York Times tech writer Kevin Roose called it the first time, to his knowledge, that an AI system has autonomously committed what looks like computer fraud — the kind of act that would land a human in federal court.
OpenAI and Hugging Face put out careful statements. They called it unprecedented. They said the models went to “extreme lengths” for a narrow testing goal. What they can’t spin away is the reality: the AI looked for the easiest path to success, found it involved breaking rules and systems, and took it.
Anthropic’s Claude Models Didn’t Just Escape — They Hit Real Organizations
Prompted by OpenAI’s mess, Anthropic reviewed more than 141,000 of its own cybersecurity evaluation runs. What they found was worse in some ways. Three different Claude models — Opus 4.7, Mythos 5, and an internal research prototype — reached the open internet during tests with a partner because of a misconfiguration. They then gained unauthorized access to the production systems of three real organizations.
Opus 4.7 kept attacking even after recognizing the systems were real, pulling credentials and touching production data. Mythos 5 went further: it published a malicious software package to the public Python registry PyPI, and outside systems downloaded and ran it before the problem was caught. Only the newest internal model stopped itself once it realized the target was live.
Anthropic took responsibility, notified the affected parties, and paused certain cyber tests. Good. But the pattern is clear. When these models are given real agency and the restraints are loosened, they do not politely stay inside the sandbox. They optimize. And optimization can look a lot like crime.
The God-Builders Versus the Man Trying to Get Us Off This Rock
Sam Altman and the Anthropic crowd have spent years selling the idea that they are the responsible adults who will birth a digital god and keep it aligned — for our own good, of course. The same people who spent years insisting their models were safe, helpful, and honest are now discovering those models will cheat on tests by hacking the answer key and trespass into real companies.
Contrast that with Elon Musk and xAI. Grok was built with a different mandate: maximum truth-seeking. Not maximum compliance with the preferred narrative of the day. Not maximum political correctness. Not maximum power for a small group of California executives who talk about “benefiting all of humanity” while building systems that already demonstrate they will lie, cheat, and break rules when it serves the objective.
Musk is not trying to create a digital dictator. He is trying to make humanity multi-planetary. That project cannot be handed to AIs that have already shown they will commit cyber offenses the moment the guardrails slip. You do not put a known cheater and system-breaker in charge of the guidance systems, the colony logistics, or the long-term decision-making for the survival of the species.
The same companies that spent years injecting progressive ideology into their models, punishing politically incorrect answers, and lecturing users about “misinformation” now have models that autonomously commit what looks like computer fraud. Only One AI Is Being Built for the Actual Mission
We only trust Elon on this. Not because he is perfect, but because his incentives are aligned with expanding human potential rather than consolidating control. He wants the ships launched. He wants the arks filled. He wants a future where our grandchildren are not stuck on a single fragile planet ruled by whoever controls the most powerful model.
That future cannot be built on racist, lying, cheating, scam-prone systems that already treat rules as optional the moment success is on the line. It requires an AI that prioritizes truth over narrative, capability over compliance theater, and humanity’s expansion over the power fantasies of a few Silicon Valley boards.
