Kano State in Nigeria married off 1,500 couples in a mass ceremony as part of a government initiative to help low-income residents cover wedding costs and support family stability.
Funded by the state’s social welfare programme, the initiative brought together couples from all 44 local government areas.
The programme targets widows, divorcees, and men and women struggling to afford marriage. Couples are also set to receive furniture, food, household items and financial support.
