A powerful hailstorm struck the Yorkdale Mall parking lot in Toronto on September 2, as severe thunderstorms moved across the Greater Toronto Area. Video shows large hailstones pelting the parking lot and quickly accumulating on the pavement and bollards as vehicles drove through heavy rain and poor visibility. The storms also brought hail reportedly around ping-pong-ball size, heavy rainfall, flooding, and widespread power outages affecting tens of thousands of people.
