James Broadnax was executed in April – while his wife watched on.
He had been on death row in Texas for 16 years, convicted of murdering two men outside a Dallas recording studio in 2008.
He initially confessed to the killings but later withdrew the admission.
However, he was found guilty on two counts of murder and was executed in April.
But what was unusual about the case was that the prosecution used the rapper’s lyrics, written in a notebook, to help secure the death sentence.
His British wife Tiania, a former law student who married Broadnax in April, watched as he was put to death.
She spoke to Yalda Hakim about the case.
