Utah is dealing with one of its worst wildfires in years. The Cottonwood Fire has already burned more than 71,000 acres and is still 0% contained. It has destroyed over 100 cabins and condos, including a ski lodge at Eagle Point, forcing the state to declare a state of emergency. Hot, dry, and windy weather is making things even worse, and firefighters are working around the clock to keep the fire from spreading. Hoping everyone in its path stays safe. – Mario Nawfal

This video was sent to me by a viewer whose husband was evacuating their cabin near Eureka as the Cherry Fire exploded Friday afternoon. The flames can be seen burning on both sides of the road as he drove to safety. It’s a sobering look at just how fast this fire spread during the extreme winds and dangerous fire weather. The Cherry Fire is one of several large wildfires that rapidly grew across central Utah today, forcing evacuations, closing roads, and sending thick smoke across much of the state.
