A Futurism hit piece this week treated those numbers, plus a sliding stock price, as proof the platform is collapsing and exists mainly to send cash to Trump.
The traffic drop is real. Similarweb, a third-party traffic tracker, is the source almost every outlet is quoting. Daily users fell more than 30 percent over the past year. Monthly site visits in September sat around 15 million, down from higher averages earlier in the year. The company itself does not release official user counts, so these are estimates, not audited figures.
Trump still posts on it constantly. He has roughly 13.1 million followers there and often drops dozens of messages in a single day—policy notes, rally clips, AI videos, and short bursts of capital letters. The June 2025 peak lined up with the public Trump-Musk clash, which briefly pulled extra eyes to both Truth Social and X. After that spike, usage settled lower.
Comparing the platform to Facebook’s billions or X’s 100-plus million daily users misses the point. Truth Social launched in 2022 as a narrow free-speech site after Trump was banned from the big platforms. It never tried to be a general hangout for everyone. A lot of the audience that once needed it now has X, which Musk reopened. Trump’s posts still move from Truth Social onto X and other sites within minutes, so the raw daily count on one app does not equal his total reach.
The parent company, Trump Media & Technology Group (ticker DJT), is a different story. The stock recently touched the mid-$6 range and is down more than 50 percent this year and about 60 percent over the past twelve months. Market value sits near $1.8–2 billion. Revenue remains tiny—around $1.7 million in the second quarter of 2026, up from a still-smaller base a year earlier. Losses run into the hundreds of millions per quarter, mostly from swings in crypto and other asset holdings rather than pure operating costs. Annual losses exceeded $700 million in 2025.
Futurism and similar pieces frame every negative number as terminal. “Craters,” “deep trouble,” and predictions that the site may not outlast the second term are stronger than the data. The platform is small, commercially weak, and smaller than its mid-2025 high. It is also still online, still carries Trump’s daily posts, and still serves the audience that wants his words without filters. Whether that is enough for a lasting business is a separate question from whether the numbers prove an immediate collapse.
