President Trump unveiled the Fraud Whistleblower Incentive Program at the White House, allowing citizens and independent journalists to report government waste and corruption through fraud.gov. Backed by Vice President JD Vance, the initiative offers tipsters whose information successfully recovers misappropriated funds a 1% commission, with Trump serving as the final arbiter for reward claims.

Trump Offers Americans 1% of Recovered Cash to Turn In Fraud
President Trump stood in the Oval Office on Tuesday and laid out a simple deal. Report fraud in federal programs and take 1 percent of the money the government gets back. No ceiling. He said people can make millions.
Vice President JD Vance, who chairs the White House Task Force to Eliminate Fraud, stood with him. So did Stephen Miller, FTC Chairman Andrew Ferguson, CMS Administrator Mehmet Oz, and YouTuber Nick Shirley. Trump handed Shirley a $10,000 check on the spot. Shirley’s December 2025 video visited Minnesota day care centers run by Somali operators and claimed they were collecting federal child-care money while providing little or no service. Minnesota has been a major case study for the task force. Federal prosecutors have described large-scale problems in Medicaid, nutrition programs, and related benefits in the state.
Trump was direct. “If it’s $10 million, $200 million, $400 million, we’re giving a 1% commission to that person,” he said. “When you get 1% of a billion dollars, it’s going to be a tremendous amount of money. People will make millions of dollars by turning others in.” He added that he will decide who gets paid when more than one person claims the same tip. “I will be the arbitrator of all of these decisions. I will be very generous, believe me.”
🚨 BREAKING: President Trump just put a bounty on fraud, and every American can cash in.
He announced the Fraud Whistleblower Incentive Program today. You report fraud at https://t.co/XVTU1E4nTj, and if it’s real, you get paid. Trump’s words: “If you find a billion dollars, we are giving a commission to that person of 1%.”
Find 10 billion, and that’s 100 million in your pocket.
California’s answer was reportedly a law to shut down Nick Shirley. Trump’s answer is to deputize the whole country.
The fraudsters spent years robbing us blind. Now 330 million Americans are watching, and every one of them has a reason to turn them in.

Reports go to fraud.gov. Clicking the report button routes users to an America.gov AI chatbot. You type what you saw. The system forwards it to the right federal office. The program covers fraud in health care (Medicare, Medicaid), food stamps, unemployment, housing, education aid, veterans benefits, small-business programs, and other federal spending. Day care, hospice, and home health are listed as priorities. Trump has said the effort reaches across all programs, including those run out of Washington and through Democrat-led states and cities.
Official descriptions from the Justice Department’s National Fraud Enforcement Division mention a $25 million pilot with payments of $10,000 to $30,000 for tips that lead to charges or major enforcement action. Trump’s public comments went further and left the percentage open-ended. Vance has said the task force’s goal is recovery of stolen funds, not only criminal cases. The White House has pointed to roughly $260 billion in identified problems since early 2025.
This is a great example of how the fake news manipulates the public and tries to turn every positive step the Trump administration takes into something negative. This reporter is pushing the idea that whistleblowers would be shortchanged by the incentives in President Trump’s fraud whistleblower program. He cites the False Claims Act’s 10–25% recovery rate, but leaves out the fact that roughly 99% of the fraud uncovered wouldn’t even qualify under the False Claims Act. Under Trump’s program, uncovering $1 billion in fraud would result in a $10 million incentive. A billion dollars is peanuts compared to the scale of fraud that actually exists. Most people would be grateful to receive a $10 million check they never would have gotten under the False Claims Act. The fake news is so slimy.

The larger picture is the one Vance and Trump have described for months. Large amounts of taxpayer money move through benefit programs with weak checks. In places with heavy Democrat control, state and local officials have often been slow to stop it. Minnesota’s Feeding Our Future and related child-care cases are the clearest recent examples. Similar patterns have shown up in other blue strongholds. The new program turns ordinary Americans and independent journalists into paid eyes on that spending.
Anyone with concrete information can file. Journalists can collect if their employers allow it. Trump said the point is to make fraud expensive and reporting profitable. The first check already went out. More will follow if the tips hold up and the money comes back.
