Trump ERUPTS After $3 Trillion Stock Market Wipeout! “You Did This!”
Donald Trump just unloaded on the Americans who voted for Democrats after one of Wall Street’s most brutal trading days in years wiped roughly $3 trillion from the market.
The Nasdaq plunged 5.5%, the S&P 500 fell 4.4% and the Dow dropped more than 1,800 points. Every S&P sector finished lower, chip stocks suffered their second-largest collapse on record and the Nasdaq entered correction territory as the massive AI trade suddenly unraveled.
Trump immediately connected the crash to Tuesday’s Democratic midterm sweep. In a furious Truth Social post, he said the market fell because Democrats had a big election night and told voters they “only have yourselves to blame.”
There is a genuine political component to the selloff. Investors are worried that the incoming Democratic Congress and newly elected governors could slow the enormous AI data-center buildout following campaigns focused on power bills, water use and restrictions on new facilities. Tech and semiconductor stocks absorbed the worst of the damage.
But the complete picture is messier than Trump’s post suggests. Wall Street initially celebrated the same election result with a huge rally on Wednesday. The crash arrived one day later as investors reassessed sky-high AI valuations, possible data-center restrictions and the threat of another debt-ceiling confrontation. The newly elected Democrats have not even taken office yet.
We break down Trump’s extraordinary attack on voters, the $3 trillion market wipeout, why AI stocks were hit so hard and whether this was temporary panic—or the beginning of something far worse.
