Welcome back to our small group study! John Barnett here. I want you to imagine we are sitting right across the table from each other, maybe at Panera or Starbucks, with our Bibles open and a fresh cup of coffee.
Today, we are looking at the breathtaking reality of our future resurrection and how that truth completely transforms the way we live right now. 1. The Seed and the Sunflower: The Promise of Celestial Bodies

Summary of What’s Covered: We kick off the class by looking at a beautiful illustration God gives us right in our own gardens. I love looking at flowers because they remind me that God can take a lowly, black-and-white striped seed and turn it into a radiant sunflower, or take a multicolored, shriveled bulb and turn it into a flower with variety beyond compare. Just think about what He has planned for you! We will see how Jesus died and was buried to take our sins away forever, and rose to purchase us from the slave market of sin so that we will receive a glorious "celestial body".
2. Living in the Shadows: Victory in a Dark Culture
Scripture References: 1 Corinthians 15 (Context of the Corinthian Epistles).
Summary of What’s Covered: Next, we look at the intensely pagan culture the Corinthians were facing. Paul was writing to believers who were trying to survive while literally living in the shadow of the temple of Apollo, the sun god, and Aphrodite, the goddess of immorality. The application for us living in our own dark world today is exactly the same: God has great plans for you! We will be challenged to keep sharing the gospel even if it means suffering persecution, to fiercely resist sin, and to live in absolute victory as we anticipate heaven.
3. The Application Prayer: Planting the Seeds of Eternity

Summary of What’s Covered: Finally, we bring all of these magnificent theological truths down to a practical reality. I will open my personal journal and share the exact application prayer I wrote after studying this chapter. We will pray together, acknowledging that even though we are unworthy to serve Him—just like Paul felt—we desperately want to be used by God every single day. We will discover that dying to ourselves, enduring persecution, and sharing the gospel might feel like a hard, buried seed right now, but when we choose to labor for the Lord today, that deposit will burst into indescribable delight and glorify God for all eternity.
