The U.S. military on Friday (July 17) released video it said showed Marine fighter jets launching from an assault ship for airstrikes on Iran.
The Department of Defense said the F-35B Lightning II planes launched from the amphibious ship USS Boxer on July 13. It did not say where the ship was located during the operation.
The US has conducted airstrikes on six consecutive nights since the collapse of a ceasefire this week in the wake of Iranian attacks on commercial ships traversing the Strait of Hormuz. Iran says it has retaliated with strikes on US bases in the region, including in Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait.
