The woman accusing several former Cornell students of gang rape says she was misled about the criminal investigation. Her lawyer claims campus police allowed her to believe the case was still active even though the local prosecutor had decided within days not to pursue charges.
The case has now been reopened under New York Attorney General Letitia James, while Cornell faces protests and a separate review of how it handled the allegations. The accused men have denied criminal wrongdoing, and the renewed investigation has not produced charges. Every major claim remains disputed—but the original handling of the case is facing more scrutiny than ever.
