Israeli security forces deployed heavily across the occupied West Bank following a Sunday morning shooting attack that killed a 30-year-old man just hours before the start of Yom Kippur. According to the military, the gunman opened fire from a vehicle before fleeing on foot. In a separate incident near Jenin less than an hour later, troops shot and killed a Palestinian man attempting a car-ramming attack while searching for an accomplice. The violence follows a large-scale counterterrorism sweep in Al-Mughayyir that left at least 28 detained, amid surging regional tensions and a sharp rise in extremist settler attacks fueled by right-wing government policies.
