The US military announced it had completed a full withdrawal from Iraq, ending a more than two-decades long fight in the region.
The nation’s prime minister Ali al-Zaidi said in a July visit to the White House that all remaining US military forces will be out of Iraq by the end of September. There were about 2,000 US troops stationed in Iraq, mostly at the Harir Air Base in Erbil in the northern Kurdistan region.
