Federal agents spent eight months building the case on Rep. Ilhan Omar before they ever knocked on her door. Tim Pool laid out the latest this morning. A leaked HSI memo requests her complete unredacted passport history. It targets potential false statements on passport applications and false claims of U.S. citizenship. It explicitly raises civil denaturalization.
• Glenn Beck obtained the memo from inside the administration. That paper trail explains why two dozen federal agents walked out of her DC home on October 12 with her phone, files, and DNA. Grand jury subpoenas went to family members. Her sister Sahra Noor’s phone was seized earlier this year. Family text messages from it helped secure the warrant. Noor later spoke voluntarily with investigators after the raid.
• Court filings list her as “Ilhan Nur Said Elmi, a/k/a Ilhan Abdullahi Omar.” Same last name as Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, the man she married in 2009. Allegations that he is her brother and the marriage was for a green card have circulated for years. Fox News sources familiar with the probe say Elmi is her real name. Omar’s office calls that false. Asked by Chris Hayes if she is related to him, she said “not to my knowledge.”
• The search warrant covered conspiracy, immigration fraud, and false statements. Agents seized her passport, cellphone, computers, and notebooks. New York Post sources say DNA evidence is aimed at proving the brother relationship. Birthdate records conflict between 1981 and 1982. If she was 18 when her father naturalized in 2000, she could not derive citizenship as a minor. Her office requested a public record change to 1982 after she was elected. Lines in her own memoir point to an earlier birth year.
• Border Czar Tom Homan said if evidence shows she lied in the naturalization process, denaturalization and deportation can follow. President Trump has said she could go to jail. DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin previously confirmed an ongoing investigation. Minnesota prosecutors lead the immigration side. DC U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro’s office has the separate finances inquiry.
• The DOJ is refusing to unseal the warrant. The U.S. Attorney’s office in Washington told the court on Tuesday that releasing the materials now would imperil the investigation. Media outlets and Judicial Watch want it open. Prosecutors say the warrant is still being executed and no charging decision has been announced. No charges have been filed.
Will she be arrested and deported, or will the Deep State protect her the way it has for years?
This administration is not the prior one. Subpoenas are out. DNA is in play. Official filings use the Elmi name. Homan and others have spoken openly about denaturalization. Still, no indictment. Old acts face statute of limitations issues. Recent passport applications or an ongoing conspiracy could be charged. Civil denaturalization has no time bar and a lower burden of proof.
Democrats who insisted no one is above the law on other raids now call this political intimidation. Omar is fundraising off the raid. Her sister talked to the feds. That is rarely a good sign for the target.
Minnesota voters decide soon. The rest of the country is watching whether the rules apply to the Squad.
