HERO Bystander STOP TRAGEDY, 2A MUST BE PROTECTED | Tim Pool
Kaylub Giamanco was driving home for lunch near Silver Rail Elementary in Bend, Oregon, when he heard the shots. The 36-year-old carpenter has two daughters at the school. He saw the 16-year-old gunman force his way inside after firing outside. Giamanco grabbed his legally carried .40-caliber pistol, followed the shooter in, and shot him dead. A teacher had already thrown her phone at the attacker and tackled him. Police arrived minutes later. This seems to be the case quite often all over America. Armed Americans save day far more often than police.
Three children, ages 5, 8, and 11, and a teacher were already dead. A 7-year-old and another teacher were critically wounded. The shooter, Griffin J. John II, used a shotgun his mother had bought. He still had dozens of shells left. Giamanco’s family said he is not seeking attention. President Trump called him a great hero who “took care of business” and said it would have been much worse without him.
Corrupt Oregon Governor Tina Kotek actually praised the bystander for stopping further loss of life. Bend Police Chief Mike Krantz highlighted both Giamanco and the teacher. On X, users noted the obvious: an armed citizen ended the attack before police could. One post put it plain: “Who stopped this school shooting? An armed citizen, that’s who.” Others pointed out the school was a gun-free zone and the good guy with a gun was the difference.
This is not a one-off. Armed Americans stop violent crimes every day. The CDC now lists estimates of 500,000 to 2.5 million defensive gun uses per year after restoring numbers that gun-control groups had pushed to bury. Most of those uses do not involve firing a shot. The gun is simply there, and the attacker leaves.

Active shooter numbers show the same pattern. The FBI reported armed citizens stopped only 16 of 408 incidents from 2014 through 2025, or about 3.9 percent. The Crime Prevention Research Center reviewed local reports and police statements and found 615 qualifying incidents in the same period. Armed citizens stopped 225 of them, or 36.6 percent. That is roughly ten times the FBI figure. In places where law-abiding people could legally carry, the stop rate rose to 52.9 percent. In 2025 alone, in areas where carry was allowed, CPRC put it at 58.3 percent.

The FBI’s count misses cases where the attacker flees after being confronted, or where the civilian is labeled “security” even if he is just a permit holder who trains on his own. CPRC’s spreadsheet is public. The pattern holds: when a law-abiding person with a gun is present and acts, the body count drops.
Past cases follow the same script. In 2019 at a White Settlement, Texas church, volunteer Jack Wilson shot and killed a gunman who had already killed two people. Media and the FBI sometimes reclassified him. In Greenwood, Indiana, a shopper stopped a mall shooter in 15 seconds from 40 yards. The list is long because the events are common. They rarely lead the evening news.
Gun-free zones concentrate the risk. Attackers pick places where no one else is armed. The Bend school fit that description. Giamanco was not supposed to have a gun there. He had it in his vehicle and chose to bring it in when the alternative was more dead children. Police were still minutes away. Seconds matter when a shotgun is being reloaded in a classroom.
X users and conservative outlets called the action what it was. Mainstream coverage often led with the victims and the call for more restrictions, then buried the fact that an armed father ended the rampage. Trump’s praise and the police chief’s comments made the sequence hard to ignore this time.
The Second Amendment exists so citizens can defend themselves and others when the state cannot arrive in time. The data from the CDC and CPRC show how often that defense happens. The Oregon case shows what one prepared father can do in the middle of a school day. Protecting that right is not abstract. It is the difference between three dead children and a classroom full of them. Democrats detest gun owners taking action and are doing all they can to disarm the population in order to increase crime nationally. They let the criminals out to kill, rape and plunder the nation, and if armed citizens are there to stop Democrat crime waves, Democrats are almost always doing all they can to fight the 2A and the Bill of Rights. They know full well that if they are to achieve their goals of dictatorship, or in the least a European style tyranny like the UK, they must disarm us all first. What this means is, when they try, open fire and you save freedom. Sacrifice time will lead the end of the Democrat Party as well as RINOS from coast to coast. Just a prediction. As Sgt Pat here at Whatfinger loves to say ‘Once the bullets start to fly, the Left will die.’ I agree 100%.
