The New York Times reports that House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries recently met privately with President Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner in New York City. Multiple people familiar with the meeting say the discussion focused on potential areas of common ground. The Times reports, quote, "Through aides, neither man would comment on the session, which was described by one person with knowledge of it as a broad conversation on a range of topics, "including housing, immigration and the high cost of living. The Times points out the timing of the meeting, quote, “underscored that those around Trump were well aware of the likelihood of a Democratic-led house, and trying to foster as much of a working relationship as possible before any change." The co-author of the piece – NYT White House correspondent Maggie Haberman – joins Morning Joe to discuss her reporting.
