Following his defeat to Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in Brazil’s presidential runoff, Flávio Bolsonaro posted a video on social media stating that the Federal Police had ordered him to surrender his passports and barred him from leaving the country. He attributed the order to Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes. Brazil’s Superior Electoral Court (TSE) declared Lula the winner with 51.79% of the valid votes to Bolsonaro’s 48.21%, marking an unprecedented comeback for a candidate who trailed in the first round. In response, Bolsonaro announced plans to request the annulment of Lula’s ticket and organize opposition leadership in Congress, while his father, former President Jair Bolsonaro, remains under house arrest following a 27-year sentence for attempting a coup in 2022.
