Flávio Bolsonaro refused to concede after Sunday’s runoff. He called the result an outrage and said he would seek full annulment. His father already sits under house arrest on a 27-year sentence handed down by the same Supreme Federal Court. The pattern is clear. Conservatives who finished voting on the original schedule watched the left keep adding numbers once the courts reopened the process. It matches the 2020 playbook in the United States.

What happened on election night
- Supreme Court Justice Cristiano Zanin, a Lula appointee and former personal lawyer for the president, ordered every polling station nationwide to stay open until 7 p.m. Original close was 5 p.m. The electoral court paused official counting while the extra hours ran.
- Flávio Bolsonaro told reporters it is impossible to recognize the results after the rules of the game were changed mid-contest by “Lula’s friends in the Supreme Federal Court.” He announced his legal team will demand annulment of the entire election.
- Final tallies put Lula at roughly 64.3 million votes (51.8 percent) and Flávio at 59.8 million (48.2 percent), a margin of about 4.4 million. In the first round Flávio led by more than 2 million. Lula gained roughly 10 million additional votes in the runoff while Flávio gained under 4 million.
- Jair Bolsonaro remains under house arrest, monitored by Justice Alexandre de Moraes, after conviction for alleged coup plotting following the 2022 loss. Moraes has already restricted family visits, blocked political activity, and issued orders against other Bolsonaro family members living abroad.
- Polling stations in several conservative southern and central states had closed or faced weather delays. The nationwide extension applied everywhere, including areas where the Workers’ Party apparatus could still transport voters.

Why Brazil cannot be fixed from the inside
- The Marxists control the Supreme Federal Court, the Superior Electoral Court, and the counting process. They decide when polls close and whose ballots get counted last.
- Tens of millions of Brazilians voted for the Bolsonaro name across both rounds. The law is written and enforced by Lula’s allies on the bench. Challenges go before the same judges who already jailed the former president.
- Conservative areas reported finished counts while the left continued adding ballots under the court-ordered extension. The sequence matches the late dumps and institutional capture seen in the 2020 U.S. election.
- No domestic court or legislature can reverse the result while the current justices remain in place. The incoming right-leaning Congress can threaten impeachment of individual judges, but the arrest power and electoral machinery stay with the left.
- Foreign pressure from aligned governments or a genuine popular uprising is required to break the hold. Domestic politics under the present court system will only produce more prosecutions.

Flávio Bolsonaro and remaining free members of the family should leave Brazil immediately. Arrest warrants and further cases follow any sustained challenge. Lula’s henchmen have already shown they will jail political opponents and restrict their movement. The voters chose the right. The courts delivered the left.
