At least five homes suffered damage as coastal flooding affected North Carolina’s Outer Banks, according to local reports citing National Parks workers. As of late Tuesday afternoon, Imelda was a Category 1 hurricane approximately 665 miles (1,070 km) west-southwest of Bermuda with maximum sustained winds of 85 mph (140 km/h), according to the National Hurricane Center.
