A high-speed train slammed into another train in Spain on Wednesday, killing at least 68 people — the second such incident this year, officials said.
The crash occurred Wednesday morning in the province of Toledo, when the high-speed trains — are capable of traveling 155 mph — with hundreds of passengers on board found themselves headed in the same direction from the capital of Madrid, according to the country’s rail system operator ADIF.
One of the trains, operated by the private rail company IRYO, had stopped, with the second train, running under the state-owned RENFE company, ramming into its rear, knocking two cars off the track.
