Graham Platner, a self-described progressive populist and oyster farmer/Marine veteran, won the Democratic primary for U.S. Senate in June 2026 on an anti-establishment, Medicare-for-All platform. He was enthusiastically backed by elements of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) network and initially drew support from high-profile progressives.
Then the receipts surfaced:
- A Totenkopf (death’s head) tattoo on his chest, the same symbol used by Nazi SS units. Platner claimed he got it drunk in Croatia in 2007 with fellow Marines and didn’t know its meaning. Multiple ex-girlfriends, however, stated he had referred to it as “my Totenkopf” years earlier and understood its Nazi associations. He eventually had it covered.
- Reddit posts from 2013–2021 in which he called himself a “communist,” wrote “all cops are bastards,” described rural white Americans as “racist and stupid,” and referenced political violence. In one post responding to anti-rape underwear, he suggested people should “take some responsibility for themselves and not get so fucked up they wind up having sex with someone they don’t mean to.” He also wrote about joining the Marines because he “wanted to have an adventure and kill some people.” He later blamed PTSD.
- Allegations of abusive behavior toward women, including physical intimidation, locking a partner in a room, and sexting other women early in his marriage. In July 2026, a former girlfriend publicly accused him of rape from a 2021 incident. Platner denied it as “categorically false.” No charges were filed, but the allegation was the final straw.
DSA-aligned strategists had vetted and recruited him. The party machine and progressive infrastructure initially tried to contain the damage, with Platner assuring Democrats there were “no other skeletons.” When the scandals kept coming and polls cratered, the DNC and many elected Democrats abandoned him. He suspended and then withdrew his campaign on July 10, 2026.

On October 14, 2020, the New York Post published a story based on a laptop abandoned by Hunter Biden. The contents included emails and documents detailing influence-peddling schemes involving Joe Biden’s position as Vice President, along with other compromising material.
Five days later, 51 former intelligence officials — many with deep ties to the Democratic Party and some actively coordinating with the Biden campaign — released a letter claiming the story had “all the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation.” The letter was orchestrated after a call from Biden campaign adviser Antony Blinken to former Deputy CIA Director Michael Morell. Big Tech platforms suppressed the story. Legacy media largely dismissed or ignored it.
The laptop was authentic. The information was real. Later investigations and admissions confirmed the contents. In 2025, President Trump revoked the security clearances of the signatories for their role in election interference.
The explicit purpose was to hide damaging information about the Biden family from American voters weeks before the election. It worked. The deception succeeded in shielding a candidate whose family business dealings raised obvious red flags.
The Pattern: Radical Infiltration + Sanitized Packaging
These cases reveal a broader strategy. The Democratic Party has increasingly allowed — and in some cases actively facilitated — the infiltration of DSA and other far-left radicals into its candidate pipeline. These candidates often campaign on moderate-sounding populism while their histories show support for defunding police, open borders, socialist revolution, or extreme cultural positions.
When the baggage surfaces (Nazi tattoos, rape-trivializing posts, communist self-identification, abuse allegations, influence peddling), the response is rarely accountability.
