1. The Ancient Core: From Salem to the City of David–Genesis 14
Summary of Coverage: While modern eyes are often drawn to the Dome of the Rock or the Al-Aqsa Mosque, the true ancient core of Jerusalem is a tongue-shaped piece of land descending from the Temple Mount. We will explore this ancient ridge, discovering that it was the city of Salem where Melchizedek came out to greet Abraham, and it later became the original City of David. We will also trace the steps of Jesus as He sent the blind man to wash at the Pool of Siloam, located at the very southern tip of this ancient city.
2. The Threshing Floor and the Three Great Promises–1 Chronicles 21, the Pentateuch, and the Davidic Covenant
Summary of Coverage: How did a simple farming plot become the focal point of God’s earthly presence? We will look at how David purchased the flat threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite during a devastating plague, which later became the exact spot where Solomon built the Temple. You will learn about the three huge, foundational promises tied to Jerusalem: God’s promise to provide a Lamb, the Davidic covenant promising a future son with an endless kingdom, and the ultimate redemption accomplished by Christ.
3. The Peak of Sacrifice: From Isaac to Calvary–Genesis 22.
Summary of Coverage: We will travel to the northernmost, highest point of Mount Moriah, reaching an elevation of 777 meters. It was exactly here that Abraham built an altar to offer Isaac, and where God promised that He would provide the ultimate Lamb. Centuries later, this exact same peak—known in the Bible as Golgotha or Calvary—became the location of the most important event in the universe: the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.
