FTGC 24b Jerusalem: The Divine Epicenter of Prophecy and History

Today, I am incredibly excited to introduce a class that takes us straight to the literal center of the biblical world and prophetic history: the city of Jerusalem. Drawn directly from our audio session, "FTGC 24b God’s Holy City & Its Place In History.mp3", we are going to explore why this tiny location is the most important piece of geography on earth.
Here are three memorable, life-changing truths we will unpack together:
1. God’s Prophetic Countdown Clock: The Most Mentioned City on Earth

Summary of What’s Covered: We kick off the class by looking at why Jerusalem is God’s literal countdown clock for the close of human history
. If you want to know how close we are to the return of Christ—which is the most prophesied event in the Bible—you have to watch this city
. We will discover that Jerusalem is the most mentioned place in the entire Bible, referred to over a thousand times, including 814 times as Jerusalem, 160 times as Zion, and 46 times as the City of David
. We will learn how all of world history is slowly getting fixated on this one tiny spot, culminating when Jesus physically descends to the Mount of Olives
.
2. A Sacred Footprint: Tracing the Alleys and Valleys of Redemption
Scripture References: Genesis 22 (Salem and Melchizedek)

Summary of What’s Covered: Next, we will take a vivid, virtual walking tour of the Old City of Jerusalem, which is packed full of historic souks and alleys and measures less than one square mile
. I’ll share my personal joy of wandering these ancient streets with an open Bible and a cup of coffee
. We will look at Mount Moriah, where the Dome of the Rock sits today and where Abraham famously walked up the valley with Isaac to offer him as a sacrifice
. We will also trace the tongue-shaped City of David as it slopes down between the Kidron Valley—which is ground zero for Gethsemane—and the Hinnom Valley
.
3. Ground Zero for Ultimate Judgment: The Valley of Jehoshaphat

; Matthew 13, 25, & 26

Summary of What’s Covered: Finally, we will look at the exact location where fallen human history will meet divine justice. We will stand at the intersection of the Hinnom and Kidron valleys, a place the prophet Joel calls the Valley of Jehoshaphat
. We will study the sobering reality of the sheep and goat judgment, where angels will gather the survivors of the Tribulation before the Lord
. We will see how Jesus will separate the faithful believers (the sheep) from the rebels who rejected Him (the goats), setting the stage for the establishment of His endless kingdom
.
