Israeli troops announced the capture of a historic castle taken by the crusaders in Lebanon in what the country’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, described as “a dramatic stage and dramatic change in our policy.” The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) shared pictures of the Israeli flag being raised above Beaufort Castle, a 900-year-old fortress constructed on a cliffside high above the Litani River. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said 28 commercial vessels, including oil tankers and container ships, safely transited the Strait of Hormuz in the past 24 hours under permits and security coordination from the IRGC Navy. Iranian military officials said all ships must use routes designated by Iran and obtain authorization before passing through the strategic waterway. Tehran warned it would respond to any attempts to interfere with its management of the strait, which it tightened after recent military tensions involving the United States and Israel. The U.S. has also imposed restrictions affecting ships traveling to and from Iranian ports.…

Major League Baseball proposed a salary cap for the first time in more than three decades, a move opposed by the players union and likely to ignite tension between the two sides ahead of negotiations over a new labor deal.
