Three container ships were hit by Iranian gunfire in the Strait of Hormuz Wednesday, hours after President Trump announced he was indefinitely extending a cease-fire with the Islamic Republic. Iranian state TV also reported that two of the vessels had been seized by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), while semiofficial news agencies reported the third vessel was “stranded” on the Iranian coast. The captured ships were identified as the Panama-flagged MSC Francesca and the Epaminodes. A chemical leak at a West Virginia silver recovery business killed two people and sent 19 others to the hospital, authorities said. The leak occurred at the Catalyst Refiners plant in Institute as workers were preparing to shut down at least part of the facility, Kanawha County Commission Emergency Management Director C.W. Sigman said. A chemical gas reaction occurred at the plant involving nitric acid and another substance, Sigman said, speaking at a news briefing. DC US Attorney Jeanine Pirro announced charges Wednesday against members of an "international auto theft ring" that boosted luxury and compact cars from the nation’s capital before shipping them to Africa to be sold on the black market. Jacob Hernandez, David Coby, Dustin Wetzel, Chance Clark and James Young were all indicted on 15 counts including conspiracy to possess, sell or transport a stolen vehicle; possession, receipt, or storage of a stolen vehicle; interstate transportation of stolen vehicles; and first-degree theft.
