In Japan, rescue efforts continue across the city of Kumamoto after a magnitude 6.8 earthquake on Tuesday. Officials say the quake was followed by an explosion at a shopping mall. So far, at least 13 people have been killed, dozens injured, with around around 9,000 residents moved to evacuation centres. Kristina Simich reports.

In Madagascar, the capital remains shaken. Since the end of June, a wave of disappearances and kidnappings has hit Antananarivo, affecting mostly children and teenagers.
