According to a fresh Citi survey of 2,400 U.S. energy-drink consumers led by analyst Filippo Falorni, energy drinks have overtaken coffee as the primary caffeine source for Gen Z. Among 16- to 24-year-olds, 30.6% now name energy drinks their top choice—up sharply from 20.6% a year earlier—while coffee has plummeted to 27.3% from 40.4%. The shift is real, generational, and accelerating. For 25- to 34-year-olds, energy drinks rose to 24.3% (from 19%).
