Colin Jost is turning his recent foot injury into a comedic moment. The Saturday Night Live “Weekend Update” anchor, 42, had previously shared that he injured his toes just before he was set to cover the surfing event in Tahiti for the 2024 Summer Olympics.

On August 11, Jost took to Instagram with a humorous video update to address the many concerned messages he received. Filmed against a picturesque ocean backdrop, Jost played up the situation with his signature humor.
“‘Dude, are you okay?’ That’s the number one text I’ve gotten in the last 48 hours. Usually followed by, ‘Heard your foot fell off,’” Jost quipped in the video.
He reassured fans that he was doing fine, despite media speculation suggesting he was “sent home” from the Olympics. “NBC didn’t actually exile me from the Games. They just took one look at my foot, declared me legally a leper, and sent me to Malta!” Jost joked, referencing the European island country.
Jost continued his comedic tour of Malta, noting, “Now Malta might not have many Olympians this year, but it does have thousands of 15-year-old British kids competing to see who can black out the fastest, and somehow they’re all winning.” He also mentioned a local casino where he had spent the money he earned as a surfing correspondent, adding, “The real reason I’m here, of course, is because Malta was the site of 10 separate bubonic plague outbreaks. So they figured I’d fit right in.”
In the video, Jost also poked fun at the local attractions, including a (fake) dungeon and the Olympic coverage on Peacock. He shared a photo of an animatronic woman he humorously described as his “dungeon mate,” and threw shade at Peacock’s handling of the Olympics.
Towards the end of the video, Jost expressed his gratitude to the people of Tahiti for their kindness and hospitality, despite his injury. He added, “Rest assured, my foot is pretty much totally fine, even though I’m not letting you look at it.”
Colin Jost is a victim of Karma. He was given the amazing job of hosting the Olympics’ surfing competition in Tahiti but did not invite his wife Scarlett Johansson to join him in paradise. Karma can be a bitch.https://t.co/Lwl5CoEAH6

This playful update followed earlier posts where Jost shared photos of his bandaged toes and jokingly lamented about his Olympic medical visits. On July 26, he posted a picture of his bloodied toes with the caption, “This might ruin my WikiFeet score but I just arrived in Tahiti for the surfing Olympics and the reef was excited to greet me #paris2024 #showfeet.”
