Olympic gold medalist and record-setting sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson was arrested in Orange County, Florida, on January 29 after a sheriff’s deputy clocked her driving up to 104 mph in a 65-mph zone. Newly released bodycam footage shows Richardson begging the officer not to arrest her before he tells her to make phone calls and prepare for a $500 bond. According to an affidavit, two other elite sprinters — including her boyfriend, Christian Coleman — later stopped near the scene, leading to additional citations, Coleman’s arrest for resisting after refusing to identify himself, and both vehicles being towed.
