American forces seized a sixth sanctioned oil tanker on Thursday morning, hours ahead of President Trump’s meeting with Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado. Marines and sailors launched from the USS Gerald R. Ford, based in the Caribbean, to apprehend the Veronica, US Southern Command announced on social media. The tanker was “operating in defiance of President Trump’s established quarantine of sanctioned vessels in the Caribbean,” the military noted.
