Taiwan placed its military and coast guard on high alert as China carried out air and naval drills near the island, according to Taiwan’s defense ministry.
The Republic of China Armed Forces said it conducted rapid response exercises after detecting activity from China’s People’s Liberation Army. Joint sea and air operations involving all military branches and the Taiwan Coast Guard remain ongoing.
Officials said Taiwanese forces are closely monitoring the situation and maintaining full awareness as regional tensions remain elevated.
