On August 7, the Midwest became the focal point of a heated battle for the White House. With both sides bringing their unique messages and personalities to key battleground states, the day was filled with passion, persuasion, and personal stories aimed at winning over undecided voters.
Vice President Kamala Harris, with Minnesota Governor Tim Walz by her side, took to the stage in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Later, they made an appearance at the Detroit–Wayne County airport, energizing supporters with their vision for the future. Meanwhile, Senator JD Vance, running mate to Republican nominee and former President Donald Trump, rallied in Shelby Township, Michigan, and later held his own event in Eau Claire.

So FAKE “working class guy” Vance is following after Harris-Walz stops to spread LIES about their leadership records. NOT surprising that GOP never tells what THEY WILL DO!🤬 https://t.co/m83vTwLlfz

In Eau Claire, Governor Walz connected with the crowd by sharing his heartfelt experiences from growing up in a small Nebraska town. He spoke about his 24 years of military service and his time as a high school teacher and coach. “We’re all about caring for our neighbors, showing kindness, and lending a hand when someone’s in need. That’s who we are,” Walz said, resonating deeply with the Midwestern audience.
Like all regular people in America’s heartland, JD Vance studied at Yale, had his career funded by Silicon Valley billionaires, and wrote a bestseller trashing that community.
Come on.
I can’t wait to debate the guy—that is, if he’s willing to get off the couch and show up. pic.twitter.com/4orv0v2xTZ

Senator Vance, on the other hand, took a tough stance on crime and illegal immigration during his morning speech in Shelby Township. He highlighted a recent case of alleged sexual assault by an illegal immigrant who had been deported previously. This narrative emphasized his hardline approach to immigration policies. Later in the day, Vance visited a manufacturing plant in Eau Claire, underscoring the importance of boosting American manufacturing. “We need to make more things right here in the USA,” he said, striking a chord with local workers.
JD Vance just held a press conference in Michigan & he was absolutely on fire!

Walz also made a point to highlight the differences between himself and Vance. He spoke about his skills in trap shooting and coaching a high school football team to a state championship, contrasting these experiences with Vance’s journey from Midwest poverty to an Ivy League education and a career in Silicon Valley. “That’s not who Wisconsin is, that’s not who Minnesota is,” Walz said, emphasizing his deep roots in the region.
Vice President Harris, speaking after Walz, promised a future where “every worker has the freedom to join a union,” drawing loud cheers from the crowd. She described herself and Walz as “joyful warriors,” committed to fighting for workers’ rights and progressive values.
Michigan and Wisconsin, with their combined 25 electoral votes, are critical in the race to the White House. Known as part of the “Blue Wall,” these states have seen razor-thin margins in recent elections. Democrats narrowly won both states in 2020, flipping them from their 2016 Republican alignment.

Current polling shows a tight race. In Michigan, Harris holds a slight 1.7 percentage point lead over Trump, according to FiveThirtyEight’s polling average. Wisconsin shows a similar narrow margin, with Harris leading by 1.6 percentage points. The fluctuating polls underscore the intense competition in these battleground states.
Selecting Walz as Harris’s running mate is seen as a strategic move to strengthen Democratic appeal in the Midwest. His relatable background and local roots may prove crucial in winning over swing state voters, potentially tipping the scales in this high-stakes election. As Harris and Trump remain neck and neck, the importance of the Midwest in the race to the White House is undeniable. Shame they need to lie about the man’s past to make him look like a patriot, and a war veteran. Shame he had to lie about his past, and a damned shame this man puts tampons in little 4th grade boys’ bathrooms, as he is gone in his Far-Left head. This, they cannot escape.
