Tropical storms have killed hundreds across Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia, leaving entire communities destroyed and rescue crews struggling to reach the hardest-hit areas. More than 500 people have died in Indonesia alone, where landslides and flooding wiped out homes and cut off power and communication lines. In southern Thailand, residents are digging out after a week of downpours that submerged cars and businesses. Malaysia’s northern paddy fields have turned to open water as nonstop rains ruined crops. Relief efforts continue, but with hundreds still missing and millions affected, the region faces a long recovery.
